Canada is one of the European Union’s oldest and closest partners. What started out in the 1950s as a purely economic relationship has evolved over the years to become a close strategic partnership. In the near future, new opportunities will be opened through the Free Trade Agreement in negotiation between the European Union and Canada and the Atlantic Strategy, which will include a significant external dimension trying to reach the neighbours of the other side of the Ocean. Indeed, cooperation between both shores has been developed historically through networks like the Francophonie or bilaterally through twinning agreements between sister cities in both banks. The EU and Canada work closely together on global challenges such as the environment, climate change, energy security and regional stability throughout the world. Some programmes to be envisaged when dealing with Canada partners are:

Research programmes
Cultural Cooperation
European Union Visitors’ Programme
CAAC cities are already working with Canada partners, namely with Quebec region and cities. Should you wish to know more, please do not hesitate to contact us.
