Common Strategic Framework at the European Economic and Social Committee

On 11th September 2012, the European Commission modified its proposed Common Provisions Regulation (CPR) with a view to including the Common Strategic Framework as an Annex of the general regulation; this means it will no longer be adopted as a delegated act by the Commission after the CPR is officially adopted by Council and Parliament.

The CSF seeks to improve coordination and secure the more targeted use of the EU’s structural funds. It is expected to improve coordination by focussing the national and regional authorities’ activities on a limited set of common objectives.

The aim of the hearing in Brussels is to collect practical inputs from a wide spectrum of representatives of civil society, local and regional authorities on what would constitute key elements of a successful CSF.
