The CAAC represented by its coordinator, Tamara Guirao-Espiñeira, participated to the meeting of the CECICN executive bureau last 12th July in Paris. The Conference of European Cross-border and Interregional City Networks (CECICN) is an EU platform of city networks representing almost 37% of the EU population and involving 500 cities. Its objective is to boost territorial cooperation among border and peripheral cities in Europe and to reinforce the message concerning the importance of territorial cooperation.
The meeting was chaired by Mr Xoan Mao, Secretary General of CECICN and RIET and Mr Jean Peyrony, Director-General of CECICN and f the Mission Opérationnelle Transfrontalière MOT.
During the first session an assessment was made on the results of the 1st Congress on Smart Cooperation, organized by CECICN last 25 and 26 June in A Coruña, regarding the inputs for the strategic document and the new contents for the website. The participants discussed the CECICN’s working plan for 2012 and the future operational lines. In this framework, CAAC will propose a Communication Plan.
On the afternoon, Ms. Tamara Guirao, CAAC coordinator presented and analyzed a restricted Call for project on EU urban issues. This debate was followed by a common reflection on the opportunities lied to this Call. Then the participants approved to organize the CECICN strategy meeting 2012 in the middle of November in Brussels.
The meeting was closed with an overview of the calendar of meetings with other networks to analyze their interest to become members of CECICN.
