Cantabria president, Ignacio Diego, has been elected as the new President of the Atlantic Arc Commission for the period 2012-2014. Diego has set the objective of the Cantabrian Presidency in boosting the economic recovery of the Atlantic Area, a sea area which, in his view, offers untold opportunities for internal and interregional development, but that at the same time opens also to regions and territories on the other side of the ocean. The regional President has also advanced that the development of the Atlantic maritime strategy, proposed by the European Commission, will be the central focus of his mandate
